Euronova Racing returns to Auto GP

Day after day, teams keep committing to the third Auto GP season: the latest announcement comes from Euronova Racing, the team founded and managed by former racer Vincenzo Sospiri. The Italian outfit made his entry official today, and is expected to announce its driver line-up very soon.

While being a new-entry, Euronova's commitment is also a return as the team already took part in the maiden Auto GP season in 2010. The squad was among the top contenders at that time, and managed to win Auto GP's first ever race in Brno, with Luca Filippi at the wheel.

Nowadays Euronova comes from a very good 2011 season that saw the team clinch the F.Abarth European title, and recently announced a further commitment in F3. With Auto GP as their top programme, Euronova will boast an incredibly broad offer for their drivers, spacing from the post-karting experiences to the steps immediately below F1.

It's an ambitious project, but the right one for a team that in 10 years of activity proved successful in top-notch environments as F3000, discovering and breeding the talents of Vitaly Petrov, Jerome D'Ambrosio and Luca Filippi.

Enzo Coloni: "I'm really happy to have Euronova back in Auto GP. They were a winning team in the Series in 2010, and I wasn't surprised by that because I know Vincenzo Sospiri and his skills from a very long time. Having them in the Championship is good news, something that will further improve the quality of our grid. Besides that, I'm happy to see that the teams are really excited by our project. After MLR71, Zele Racing and Virtuosi UK, Euronova is the fourth new-entry for 2012, it clearly means that our hard work is appreciated".

Vincenzo Sospiri (Euronova Racing): "I'm very pleased to return to the Auto GP World Series, a Championship that has already produced drivers who have moved through to Formula 1. The Championship is extremely well organized and publicized and offers an excellent opportunity for young drivers to gain experience of driving powerful and fast cars at FIA circuits around the world. The format of the race weekend, including pitstops, provides an excellent training for drivers whose next move could very well be Formula 1. I'm very excited about the Championship this year and am close to finalizing my driver line-up which I am sure will be competitive".
