HP-Tech Expands Program for 2012

Ft. Lauderdale, FL - HP Tech Motorsport will add to its F20000 Championship Series program for 2012, expanding to three RFR chassis in an all-Venezuelan driver lineup. 2011 rookie contender Robert La Rocca will be back in the No. 10, and is set to be joined by Francisco Cerullo and Jose Montiel.

The Florida-based squad joined the F2000 Series in 2011, with two rookie drivers, finishing second in their first outing in Virginia, and scoring podiums all year long with La Rocca en route to a fifth place Championship finish.

Besides barging onto the F2000 scene, HP-Tech won the North American Ferrari Challenge Championship in 2011 and will field at least four Ferrari Challenge cars in 2012.

"Our goal for the 2012 campaign is to start in the winner's circle and end with a Championship title for both F2000 and Ferrari Challenge," said Jorge Herrera, team president.

"Robert is now a two-year veteran and is ready to work with our new drivers. They all have the passion to win, and I believe we are going to have a successful 2012."

Francisco Cerullo, 25 years old, joins the team as the 2008 F2000 Champion in Venezuela, and spent 2011 in the Latam Challenge Series, finishing fifth.

Jose Montiel is another rookie for 2012, coming out of the Skip Barber Series.

To accommodate the expansion under its awning, HP-Tech is adding former IndyCar engineer Jeff Lohman to the F2000 program, and anticipates adding a fourth car, should funding be secured.

The 14-race, seven-weekend 2012 season starts at VIRginia International Raceway, April 12-15.
