Minor Enters 2012 Championship with Citation

Fairfax, VA - 2011 Masters Class Champion Tim Minor wiill be back for a full-scale assault on the 2012 F2000 Championship Series with a Citation chassis. Minor won outright at Summit Point in 2009, has numerous Masters Class victories, finished on the podium consistently in 2011, and led laps at a number of events on his way to a fourth place Championship finish for his Ski Motorsports team.

"We tested the new car in November and I thought things went pretty well," said Minor. "My goal is to win the overall Championship. I like the challenge of beating guys half my age, not bad for the old man."

Engineering whiz Eric Langbein is onboard for the full season, in addition to crew chief Tim Reedy.

"In addition, we will have a second car under the tent for Jeremy Grenier, with a Citation Honda for the F1600 Series," added Minor.

Minor spent more than a decade with his Van Diemen, with his car used to pioneer a number of now-must-have updates to the chassis, include the engine/chassis brace.

"I am looking forward to driving something different," Minor continued. "I had driven the Van Diemen since 1999 so it will take some adjustment on my part to be able to give proper feedback. However, Eric and I have worked together for many years and I think we are going to make this chassis very competitive.

"This F2000 Series continues to be the best bang for your buck. We get large fields and the young racers can come in, learn and get quality seat time, and then move on up."

The 14-race, seven-weekend 2012 season starts at VIRginia International Raceway, April 12-15.
