Christensen Heads Arden MW Trio

The Arden MW team's subdued Silverstone weekend continued in this morning's second GP3 Series race. All three drivers were condemned to lowly starting positions, in the wake of problems yesterday afternoon, and the final result reflected as much. Miki Monras climbed as high as 12tt, but had to pit on the final lap and was classified 18th. Michael Christensen made good early progress from 23rd on the grid to finish 15th, but Leonardo Cordeiro retired after sliding off the circuit at Copse - the same corner that caught him out during Saturday's race.

Michael:

"My goal today was to have a trouble-free race - and to pass as many people as possible. I think things went pretty much as planned. I made a good start, drove steadily throughout the opening lap and then pushed as hard as I could without taking any big risks. I think we've moved forward with the car since yesterday, which is positive. Now we will prepare ourselves as thoroughly as possible for Hockenheim. I know the track well and am sure I'll be competitive."

Miki:

"We made a few changes to the car overnight and that definitely brought about an improvement. It's clear that we weren't the quickest out there, but it was a step forward nonetheless. The race became fairly processional after three laps, because everybody settled into a similar rhythm and that made it very difficult to overtake. In different circumstances, though, we were definitely quick enough to finish in the top six. Failing fuel pressure caused me to slow on the final lap, but it's better that these happen when we aren't in a position to score points."

Leo:

"I felt much more confident today, simply because I have now learned the circuit. After about five laps I felt I was really beginning to get into a good rhythm and I was catching a group of cars ahead. I managed to pass one of them, but on the 10th lap I spun at Copse and was unable to stop before I slithered into the gravel. That's part of the learning curve, though. It was a disappointing way to finish, but I'm sure I'll do better at Hockenheim. That's now my main focus."
