Krohn to make Firestone Indy Lights debut

New York City - Norwegian race car driver Anders Krohn has got the chance of a life time; This weekend he will make his debut in the Firestone Indy Lights series, the official feeder series of the IZOD IndyCar series. Krohn, who is also named "The Viking", will be racing for Andersen Racing in the Logi Trans/Offshore Express car. "This is a dream come true, and I don't think it has struck me yet just how big this is! I've been dreaming of this for such a long time, and working so hard for it to happen; all of a sudden it's all real!" Said Anders Krohn in a press-statement, today in New York City.

Logi Trans, a worldwide logistics company, has partnered with Krohn for the Firestone Indy Lights race, which will be held at Watkins Glen International on July 4th just before the IZOD IndyCar race. The track is located in upstate New York, and Krohn has fond memories of the track, as he broke the Formula 2000 track record there in 2008. With the move, the 22-year old becomes the first Andersen Racing driver to go through all the steps in the Andersen Racing ladder system; F2000, Star Mazda and now Firestone Indy Lights.

Team owner Dan Andersen, has always wanted to move drivers up the ladder within his own team, and sees Anders as a prime example. "As a team whose reason for being is the development and advancement of young drivers, we have in Anders Krohn the prototypical Andersen Racing driver," Andersen said. "He came to us in 2008 and simply dominated the F2000 level with nine victories in 14 races. He came back to us this year in Star Mazda and is currently second in the points, and we will be contesting for that championship for the rest of the year. Getting him into a Firestone Indy Lights car with our team completes the cycle and makes me extremely happy. He is a clear talent who will advance in racing until he reaches the top." Ended a clearly excited Dan Andersen, after the current "one off" deal was made public.

Krohn, who is also competing full time in the Star Mazda Championship, recently completed a Firestone Indy Lights test at Putnam Park in preparation for the upcoming race. According to the driver, the test went very well and all of the objectives for the day were met. "The test was vital for me, especially since the car is so different from the Star Mazda car. The obvious thing is the horse power, where I will be going from 250 to 450. But there are other things that make a greater difference, such as wheelbase and weight. The team did a sensational job in getting me up to speed and comfortable with the car, and I can't wait to get to Watkins Glen now. It's going to be a massive step for me, so I enter the weekend without any expectations, just with a lot of opportunities. I'd like to thank Andersen Racing and Logi Trans for making this happen, we've been working on it for quite some time now, and it's great to finally have everything nailed down. I'd also like to give a shout out to my main sponsors Norse Cutting & Abandonment, Trallfa and Colosseum, whom have been with me for a long time. Without them, I would not be in this position, and I will forever appreciate that!" Said the Houston-resident, who is currently in New York City getting ready for this weekend's spectacle.

You can watch the race live at 1.30pm Eastern Time (19.30 Central European Time) on July 4th, by logging onto www.indycar.com
