Superleague Formula by Sonangol returns to the "Ring" for round five

Nestled in the spectacular Eifel Mountains alongside its formidable Nordschleife forbearer, the circuit returns to the calendar after hosting the second-ever Superleague Formula round in 2008.

And with the series nearing its season's half-way point, a number of teams and drivers will need strong performances if they're to remain in the title hunt.

Championship leaders Tottenham increased their advantage at the top of the league table in Jarama despite Craig Dolby admitting that his hadn't been the fastest car throughout the weekend. Even so, the Englishman was still at his swashbuckling best to rescue fifth from eighth on the grid in race one, before carving through the field of the reverse-grid second to seal an incredible podium.

Nearest challengers AC Milan were one of the quickest throughout last weekend but having finished second earlier on Sunday, Yelmer Buurman struggled to make headway in the afternoon's action to slip 60 points adrift of Spurs. But along with fellow Dutchman Robert Doornbos (Corinthians), Buurman does at least boast race-winning experience in Germany, being the last man to triumph in a Superleague Formula race there back in 2008.

Meanwhile, John Martin suggested that he could become a force to be reckoned with over the remainder of 2010 thanks to his and Beijing Guoan's pole position, race one victory and second in the Super Final in Spain.

Despite Germany's modern-day motorsport dominance, Max Wissel will be the only man to compete on home soil at the Nürburgring. Always a threat and armed with local knowledge, the FC Basel driver has a fantastic chance of improving on his current third place in the standings.

Max Wissel:"Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Nürburgring. I was really strong there when Superleague Formula last visited two years ago and could have won the second race until a problem. I love the track and did well in Formula BMW and Renault championships when I raced there too, so hopefully we can have a strong weekend. The track is much wider than last weekend at Jarama and will suit the Superleague Formula cars better."

The action kicks off on Saturday morning with two free practice sessions ahead of the afternoon's unique group stage/knockout phase qualifying at 15.10. That's followed on Sunday by both 45-minute races, before the six-man, five-lap dash-for-the-cash Super Final.
