Liberty Motorsports Signs Mansur For 2010 USF2000 National Championship

Aruban expected to challenge for wins and series title in return to junior formula car competition

ROCKFORD, ILL. - Liberty Motorsports is pleased to announce the signing of rising junior formula car talent Terrick Mansur for the 2010 Cooper Tires Presents The USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda. In joining forces, the Aruban racer and Illinois-based team believe that they have the tools and the skills to not only challenge for race wins, but also the series title in its debut season.

Liberty Motorsports enters the upcoming USF2000 National Championship with one goal in mind - victory. In signing Mansur, the Formula Ford 2000 standouts believe they have taken the key first step towards reaching that goal. Piloting the No. 14 Liberty Motorsports Van Diemen which is supported by Aruba.com, Mansur will contest all 12 rounds of the USF2000 National Championship, partnering a yet-to-be-confirmed teammate. Reuniting with Liberty Motorsports Team Manager Chuck Lessick, who previously worked with him in the F2000 Championship Series, Mansur joins the squad following a highly successful test at Sebring International Raceway. As part of the series test to evaluate the new spec Cooper Tires radial, Mansur quickly got up to speed, working well with the Liberty Motorsports crew, Cooper Tires engineers and series officials.

"I'm really looking forward to the upcoming USF2000 National Championship season and working with Liberty Motorsports," stated Mansur. "While the team is making its pro debut this season, I believe we have all the ingredients to succeed."

"It will be great to be working with Terrick again this season," said Lessick. "He's a hard charger who knows how to race up front, rarely placing a wheel wrong. Terrick has what it takes to do well in the USF2000 series and should be a strong contender in the championship. His experience in F2000 cars should serve him well in his pursuit of the 2010 title."

"I am thrilled to have Terrick as the newest addition to Liberty Motorsports," added Brian Belardi, Liberty Motorsports Team Owner. "Not only are his efforts in the car flawless, but his technical knowledge and feedback are equally impressive. This was evident during the Sebring test. There is no question in my mind that he will be a front-runner in the USF2000 National Championship this year."

The 2010 race season marks a return to action for Mansur, with the talented young racer having taken a two-year break from competition as he pursued a degree in software engineering. Prior to the hiatus, Mansur was widely regarded as one of the leading young drivers in the North American junior formula car ranks. A native of Aruba in the Caribbean, he first got behind the wheel at the age of eight via karting. Showing good speed and skill, it was not long before he was winning races throughout the Caribbean, Europe and the USA. Following a highly successful karting career, which featured the 2004 Junior 80cc SKUSA Florida Winter Tour title, Mansur made the move up to cars in 2006. Mansur quickly adapted to the new challenges, becoming the FormulaCar Magazine Formula SCCA Southeast Region champion and SCCA South Atlantic Road Racing Champion in his rookie season. The talented racer continued to impress one year later in the pro ranks, finishing third in the highly-competitive F2000 Championship series.

Liberty Motorsports and Mansur are currently busy preparing for the start of the Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship powered by Mazda, which gets underway on March 27-28, with Rounds One and Two taking place on the streets of St. Petersburg in conjunction with the IndyCar Series.
