The new Formula Renault 3.5 has arrived

The 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 Series season began on 16 January for the 13 competing teams, as they each took delivery of their first new Formula Renault 3.5. The teams also received their first engines. The second cars are scheduled for delivery at the end of February.

The 2012 season will see the competition debut of the new Formula Renault 3.5. The car, developed by Renault Sport Technologies and its partners, is more modern, more powerful and even closer to a Formula 1 vehicle, but stays true to the philosophy that made its predecessors so successful. It also boasts the very latest innovations, including DRS (Drag Reduction System).

Twenty-six cars, shared between 13 teams, will line up for this season's Formula Renault 3.5 Series. On 16 January, each team received its first chassis from the Dallara factory, with the first ZRS03 engines arriving from the Zytek workshop just a few days later. The teams and their drivers made an immediate start on their significant preparatory work and set about getting to know the new Formula Renault 3.5. The second car will be delivered at the end of February.

The season gets underway on 5 and 6 May at Motorland Aragón, as part of the World Series by Renault. Before then, six days of collective testing are scheduled to take place at Paul Ricard HTTT, Barcelona and Motorland Aragón.

The press presentation for the eighth season of the World Series by Renault will be held on 8 March in Paris.
