Jean-Eric Vergne took pole position for rounds seven and nine of the 2010 Cooper Tires British F3 Series today; having set the two fastest laps in this morning's qualifying session at Magny Cours. The Frenchman looked dominant on his home circuit and led the way from the start of the session. Oulton Park race winner Rupert Svendsen-Cook also enjoyed a strong outing in qualifying and will line up sixth for both race one and three this weekend.

Under sunny clear skies, qualifying commenced this morning for the third event of the 2010 season. Racing in his home country Vergne made the most of his local knowledge and led the proceedings from the outset. Svendsen-Cook was also back on form, earning himself two sixth placed grid slots. James Calado will start the first race of the weekend from seventh place, and race three from 11th. Adriano Buzaid made improvements from practice yesterday and will start one from eighth and race two from seventh. Jazeman Jaafar will start race one from 13th and race three from 10th, while Lucas Foresti will line up 11th for race one and 13th for race three. The grid for the second race of the weekend will be set by the finishing order of race one.

Pole sitter Vergne said, "It was a good session for me, we did a lot of work yesterday which put is in great shape for today; we improved many things before qualifying this morning. I think the car was about 90 per cent there yesterday in practice but today it was really good and it was easy to push hard. I was able to do exactly what I wanted with the car, so I must thank the team for the work they have done. They gave me a great car for qualifying. I want to really push in the races now and get the best results possible."

Carlin's Racing Director Trevor Carlin added, "Magny Cours can be a very difficult circuit to get right, it's a very sweeping track and a small mistake on a quick corner can ruin a whole sector. I think it caught a few of the drivers out today. Jev did a great job this morning; he was very consistent and looked comfortable on track and it's great to see him do well at his home event. We'll be working hard as a team between now and the first race this afternoon to pull the team forwards as a whole. There's a lot of racing to be done this weekend and I feel confident that all our drivers will be making good progress throughout the races."

The drivers will line-up for the first race of the weekend (round seven of the season) which will commence at 14.00 local time this afternoon.
