Alexander Sims (ART Grand Prix) came out on top in an action-packed race with many slipstream battles at the 5.791 kilometres long Le Castellet circuit. The Brit won the second season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series with a 7.477 seconds' margin over Edoardo Mortara (Signature) and Marco Wittmann (Signature). With his victory in the first round of the season and his second place in today's race, Mortara is now leading in the drivers' standings of the world's toughest junior race series at 15 points.

Sims started the race from sixth on the grid, Mortara even started in eighth place and Wittmann lined up seventh on the starting grid. However, the characteristics of the circuit in the south of France with its long straights allow for many overtaking manoeuvres. The trio that already claimed the podium places yesterday made it up into the top three in today's 14 lap race again with many thrilling slipstream battles. The leading quartet started the final lap with Sims leading Merhi, Wittmann and Mortara. As Wittmann battled with Merhi, Mortara took his chance and overtook both rivals in one spectacular move.

Alexander Sims (ART Grand Prix): "I am really happy with my second victory ever in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Starting off the season with a victory and a podium finish is very nice."

Edoardo Mortara (Signature): "I had a moment battling with António Félix da Costa, after which I briefly lost contact with the guys out in front. Having overtaken him later on, I was able to pull clear right away. The final lap of this race with my overtaking move over Roberto Merhi and Marco Wittmann will stick in my memory for a long time to come."

Marco Wittmann (Signature): "Of course, the result is good, but I am also a little bit upset for still having lost second place. I didn't expect Edoardo to attack the two of us. Nevertheless, I can go home a happy man: here at Le Castellet, I have scored my first to podium results in the Formula 3 Euro Series."
