Franconian Monaco welcomes the Formula 3 Euro Series

Track length: 2.300 kilometres
Lap record F3ES: 0:48.902 minutes / Nico Hülkenberg 2008
Distance: Sat: 35 laps / Sun: 48 laps
Winners 2009: Jules Bianchi / Christian Vietoris

This weekend, the Formula 3 Euro Series is going to contest the seventh and eighth rounds of its 2010 season. The venue of the race weekend will be the 2.3-kilometre Norisring. Nuremberg's street circuit located at the city's Dutzendteich often is called the 'Franconian Monaco', due to its special atmosphere. Championship leader Edoardo Mortara (Signature) travels with a 13-point lead over second-placed Marco Wittmann (Signature) to the Bavarian metropolis.

Italy's Mortara who resides in Geneva knows how it feels to travel to Nuremberg as championship leader as he also held a clear lead prior to the Norisring weekend of the 2008 season. He is the only driver on the grid who succeeded in scoring points in each of the six races contested to date. He won two of these races and secured a total of five podiums.

Franconian Marco Wittmann holds second position in the championship, prior to his home event. Close behind him follows Roberto Merhi (Mücke Motorsport), the best of the Mercedes-Benz drivers. Valtteri Bottas (ART Grand Prix), who made history four weeks ago by being the first driver to successfully defend his Masters of Formula 3 title, now wants to tie in with this success and finally celebrate his maiden Formula 3 Euro Series win.

Marco Wittmann (Signature): "For me, the two races at the Norisring definitely represent the season highlight. There are two reasons why I'm of this opinion: On the one hand, my home event always is attended by a lot of friends and acquaintances and on the other, the Norisring - being a street circuit - features a very special ambience. Following my podiums in the previous races and my win at Hockenheim it's my goal to again make it to the highest step of the podium, here."
