The Red Bull Junior Team* will this year be keeping a close eye on Frenchman Pierre Gasly, currently a member of the FFSA's circuit racing 'Equipe de France' squad. His programme for the coming season will focus on the Eurocup FR 2.0, a cornerstone feature of the World Series by Renault.

The objective of the 'Equipe de France' programme run by France's motorsport governing body, the FFSA (Fédération Française du Sport Automobile), is to facilitate the careers of talented young French drivers in all forms of motorsport. "Red Bull has an option on Pierre for 2012 and will keep a close eye on his performance throughout the year. If his results prove sufficiently convincing, there is a possibility he will join the Junior Team in 2013," says the FFSA President Nicolas Deschaux. "This agreement is a perfect fit for our philosophy which consists in working alongside our most promising youngsters as they make their way up the motorsport ladder. It symbolises how successful the FFSA's talent detection and support strategies have been."

As a member of the FFSA's circuit racing 'Equipe de France' line-up, Pierre Gasly is perfectly aware of the significance of this opportunity. "Thanks to support from the FFSA and the Auto Sport Academy, I am fortunate enough today to have been spotted by Red Bull and to have a chance of perhaps joining one of motor racing's flagship grooming programmes in 2013," notes the Rouen-based youngster who will celebrate his 16th birthday on February 7. "This opportunity is reassuring news for my future and I hope I will succeed in living up to the hopes that have been placed in me…"

For memory, Red Bull gave the same opportunity to Jean-Eric Vergne, again in association with the FFSA, during his Formula Campus campaign in 2007, ahead of his recruitment by the Red Bull Junior Team the following year.
