Bridgestone Motorsport's 2010 British Grand Prix ReportRed Bull Racing's Mark Webber made a superb start from second on the grid to win a fast-paced British Grand Prix at the newly reconfigured Silverstone Circuit with a Bridgestone soft and hard tyre strategy. Webber led championship points leader Lewis Hamilton across the line in hot and dry conditions. Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team driver Nico Rosberg finished third for the third time this season. Hiroshi Yasukawa - Director of Bridgestone Motorsport, says "Firstly, congratulations to Mark Webber and the Red Bull Racing team for their fantastic result and also to Silverstone, the home of British motorsport, for putting on an excellent event this weekend. Even in our final year of Formula One we are still learning many things, so to race on this new Silverstone layout was a thrill for us. We had many guests here from our British sales company and also numerous friends and families from our team so this was a great day for us." Hirohide Hamashima - Bridgestone Director of Motorsport Tyre Development, says "Today we saw both compounds working well even at this severe Silverstone circuit. The new layout was an interesting and tough challenge for us and the drivers. There was excitement all over the weekend as everyone learnt the best approach here. The severity of the layout was illustrated by blistering on the front left tyres in the race. We saw punctures from contact which is something in the nature of motor racing. We also saw an additional pit stop because of flat spotted tyres and other strategic reasons. Thank you to Silverstone and the British public for a fantastic day here." In 2010, the tyre regulations stipulate that the two dry tyre specifications must be visibly distinguishable
from each other. At the British Grand Prix, the soft (option) compound Bridgestone Potenza tyres were
marked with green bands on the sidewalls. The wet weather tyres were also marked with a green line in
a central groove.
