François Sicard appointed DAMS general managerAfter its very successful 2011 season crowned with the GP2 Drivers' title, DAMS is tackling 2012 with the same ambitions. The French squad has decided to reshuffle its management team to take on current and future challenges, and appointed François Sicard from OAK Racing as general manager. After business and marketing studies, François joined Renault in 1991 where he spent a total of 16 years beginning with the marketing department. In 2001, he moved to Renault Sport as Circuit Competitions manager, and he was one of the people behind the World Series by Renault, which he was put in charge of in 2005 when the series was launched. At the end of 2007 he decided the time was ripe for a new challenge and took over the management of OAK Racing, the endurance team set up by Jacques Nicolet on the base of the former Serge Saulnier outfit. He made a big contribution to the on-going development of the company, which has since become a sports prototype constructor in its own right. François Sicard: "I'm very happy to be joining the DAMS team, which has one of the best set of results in the world in single-seater racing. My aim is to continue to maintain its exceptionally high level of performance and to develop it through new projects like the Formula Renault 3.5 Series as well as endurance. Victory in the WSR 3.5 is the only single-seater championship missing from DAMS's laurels so I'll try and use my experience in the Series to win the title. I'm leaving the OAK Racing family after what's been a great adventure, which will always remain dear to me. I have no doubts that the new chapter that's opening with DAMS will be as rich in success and fulfillment." Jean-Paul Driot, CEO: "I'm delighted to welcome François Sicard to DAMS. His experience of single-seaters with the setting up of the World Series by Renault Championship, combined with his in-depth knowledge of endurance racing, will enable our team to continue to shine in our GP2, WSR and endurance programmes."
