Pic Eighth On Low-Key Day For ArdenArden International's Silverstone weekend ended without a point being scored, although Charles Pic performed strongly in this morning's second GP2 Series race. It was always going to be difficult to make ground at a circuit with relatively few passing opportunities - and so it proved. Pic started 10th, gained one position when Jérôme d'Ambrosio (DAMS) ran wide and then finally clawed his way past Luca Filippi (Super Nova), but by that stage it was too late to contemplate further progress. Team-mate Rodolfo Gonzalez made his customarily bright start, rising from 16th to 12th, but he then spun at Vale and slipped back to finish 20th. Charles: "I didn't make the best of starts, although I only lost one position. As the race settled down it was obvious that I was potentially quicker than Jérôme d'Ambrosio, but it was impossible to pass him until he ran wide. I suffered quite a lot of tyre degradation towards the end, which allowed Luca Filippi to catch me, but I was able to hold him off and actually picked up another position on the final lap when Christian Vietoris made a mistake. Eighth place would have been a better result yesterday, obviously, but missing free practice put us on the back foot and we never really recovered. We need to do a bit of work to improve our tyre management over a race distance, but I'm sure we'll find a solution and my mind is already focused on the next race, at Hockenheim." Rodolfo: "I made another good start, which is becoming a useful habit, and we have definitely made progress with the car since Saturday's opening race. That's a good sign and I'm sure we will continue to move in the right direction. Unfortunately, my result was compromised when another car threw up a stone that cracked my visor just as I was braking for Turn Eight. That's what caused me to spin..."
