Conquest Racing ready for some road racing at The Glen

NoFenders.com Online Store

Conquest Racing is excited to be getting back to road course racing at Watkins Glen International this weekend.

After a stretch of four consecutive oval races in the IZOD IndyCar Series, Conquest drivers Mario Romancini and Bertrand Baguette are looking forward to turning both right and left at the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen (July 2 - 4).

Bad luck aside, both rookies put in strong performances and gained experience on the ovals aboard their Indy cars, but it's no secret that Romancini and Baguette have more experience on road courses.

The pair of rookies will be counting on that road racing expertise to try and turn their fortunes around this weekend and leave the 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course with not only a strong but also satisfying result.

While Romancini competed at Watkins Glen International last season in Firestone Indy Lights, as it has been the case all season, this will be the first trip to The Glen for Baguette who will be sporting the colors of Ice-Watch on his #36 Dallara this weekend.

The Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen takes place Sunday, July 4, 2010 and will be broadcast live on ABC starting at 3:30 p.m. ET. Qualifying goes green on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. ET and can be followed live online at www.indycar.com.

Mario Romancini, #34 Conquest Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone - Rookie Standings: 2nd

"I'm really looking forward to Watkins Glen this weekend. It's been fun racing on ovals but getting back to road courses for a bit will be a nice change. It's a great track and I enjoyed racing there last year in Indy Lights, even if we had a problem early on in the race. I'm hoping for a good result this weekend and I think it is something we can look forward to."

Bertrand Baguette, #36 Ice-Watch Dallara/Honda/Firestone

"It will be nice to return to road racing this weekend. It is an environment that is much more familiar to me than ovals. Even if I have no experience at the Watkins Glen track, it won't be completely unknown to me since I have been working on a simulator to learn the layout. I am hoping that my experience on road courses will help us turn our luck around. I am also excited to represent our new partner Ice-Watch and to be an ambassador of these beautiful watches."
