Last year, the Tuscany track housed two rounds of the season: first one was ruled by Edoardo Piscopo (Team Ghinzani) while two months afterwards it was the turn of Mirko Bortolotti (Lucidi Motors), in a challenge that anticipated the title's battle involving the two drivers until the final round.

The first four races of 2009 set the basis for an even more thrilling battle with three protagonists within just three points. Daniel Zampieri (BVM-Target), Daniel Campos-Hull (Prema Powerteam) and Sergio Campana (Lucidi Motors) will have at Mugello the first chance to get away in classification, something that Marco Zipoli (Team Ghinzani), now eleven points adrift, will try to avoid in all possible ways.

Victory ambitions also for Pablo Sanchez Lopez (Alan Racing Team), Francesco Castellacci (Prema Powerteam) and Stefanos Kamitsakis (RC Motorsport), to whom Salvatore Cicatelli (Corbetta Competizioni) could probably be added.

Giovanni Nava (Lucidi Motors), Riccardo Cinti (Corbetta Competizioni), Francesco Prandi (Lucidi Motors), Angelo Fabizio Comi (Alan Racing Team) and Alessandro Cicognani (Team Ghinzani) will be looking for a result allowing them to get in the classification top-ten, while the brothers Giulio and Federico Glorioso will try to award Gloria Pro Team the first points in its history.

RC Motorsport will line up a second Dallara F308-FPT given to Stéphane Richelmi. David Fumanelli will also make is debut with RP Motorsport.
