Krohn Bags Double Podium in New Jersey
Millville, New Jersey - Just a week after finishing 5th in the Pizza Ranch 100 at Iowa Speedway, Anders Krohn scored two podiums at New Jersey Motorsports Park in extremely hot and humid conditions during rounds six and seven of the Star Mazda Championship. The races were not without drama, but the Andersen Racing driver still managed to close in on the Championship lead. Krohn started fourth in the first race, which saw several full course cautions. He was quickly able to get up to second place when the first two drivers were penalized for jumping the start. Shortly thereafter he took the lead, but was unable to keep it for very long. The Houston resident went on to finish second, 2.5 seconds behind Brazilian driver Caio Lara. Anders Krohn, who is also referred to as "The Viking", did not manage to improve his starting spot for Sunday's race, but would still have a great race. Coming out of turn one he bagged third spot, and would maintain this position for over half the race. The 22-year old later got up to second spot after an intense battle and looked set to keep his position until the chequered flag fell. However, it was not to be, as Krohn's gearbox failed to co-operate on the last two laps and was stuck in 6th gear. On the very last lap he was passed and ended up finishing third. Tristan Vautier from France ended up winning the race, with Brazilian Joao Horto in second place. "I've got to be happy with two podium finishes. Andersen Racing has done an outstanding job as usual, and it's just a shame we were not able to get the first win of the year in the box. Both races were very good for us. Losing a position on the last lap with gearbox issues is not the way you want to end a great weekend, but we closed in on the championship lead. I'd like to thank my main sponsors Norse Cutting & Abandonment, Trallfa, Colosseum as well as Bring Logistics US Inc, SR Transport, ZAT Graphics, Nash Performance, Eagles Canyon Raceway, KNA, Rioja, MotorAkademiet, Bell Racing, OMP Racing, Restart Communications, and Racing For Kids for their fantastic efforts. I'm looking forward to the upcoming races, but also to a massive announcement that will be made within the next couple of days." Ended a secretive and excited Anders Krohn. The next race on the Star Mazda calendar will be held at Autobahn Country Club, just outside Chicago, on July 31st. But before then, stay tuned for a big announcement!
